Swap Meet Testing Regulations
Poultry 5 months of age or older must have a negative salmonella pullorium-typhoid test conducted within 30 days prior to sale, a copy of the Minnesota Flockowner Agreement Form/Rapid Whole Test Form, (LS-00023-09) must be provided at the sale. All birds must be identified with a leg or wing band.

Hatching eggs and poultry less than 5 months of age must originate directly from a hatchery that is currently permitted by the board or from a hatchery that participates in an equivalent program in another state and has been approved by the board younger birds and eggs originating in Minnesota must have a hatchery permit card.

Poultry originating outside of minnesota: We ask that any out of state buyers or sellers call in advance so a veterinarian can be present to fill out a CVI in compliance with Minnesota State Export laws. In addition, the MBAH requires the following forms.

    A. Certiificate of Vetrinarian inspection that includes Minnesota import permit number.

    B. National Poultry Improvement Plan Report Of Sales Of Hatching Eggs, Chicks, and Poults (VS form 9-3) or an equivalent form issued by the state of origin. This form must include a Minnesota Import Permit Number.

Adult poultry (5+ months) originating outside of Minnesota must have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) listing the test type , date and results.

Turkeys must have a negative Salmonella typhimumium, Mycoplasma, gallseppticim, and Mycopllasma synoviae test conducted within 30 days prior to sale.

Minnesota State Poultry Testing Regulations
The MN Board of Animal Health requires all poultry, game birds, and turkeys to have the appropriate blood testing done. Birds must have a numbered wing or leg band. The MPTL "Minnesota Poultry Testing Laboratory" has a list of people who are authorized testing agents. Please contact one of these agents before the show or swap to get your birds done. Their number is (320) 231-5170. The Board of Animal Health may have a representative at all of the swaps and shows checking blood test papers.

Required tests include Salmonella pullorum-typhoid. In addition, turkeys must be tested and negative for Mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG) and Mycoplasma synoviae (MS) prior to sale. The owner must receive and have the official test chart/report from the MPTL "Minnesota Poultry Testing Laboratory" to verify results prior to the show or sale. The MN Board of Animal Health does not require testing for Avian Influenza (AI) at this time.
